HOW TO USE SP Flash Tool in easy way plus download file

Requirement
  • * USB cable
    * Install VCOM drivers on the PC ( Download Find One for You )
    * The phone
    * Scatter file + files to be flashed ( Download )
    * Download SP Flash tool ( Download  )

Steps to follow:
1. Remove the battery from the phone and slot it back in without booting the phone (If the battery is inbuilt then simply switch if off). Also, ensure there’s a formatted SD card in the phone (if there’s an SD card slot)
2. Launch SP Flash Tool as Administrator

3. Click on Scatter-loading by the right

4. In the window that pops up, select the scatter file for your phone model then click Open (scatter file is a text file with the word “scatter” in its name )

5. A list with ticked boxes should appear in SP flash tool (preloader, mbr, ebr etc)

Step 6 is only for when you wish to format the phone. Skip if you don’t wish to format
6a. Click Format at the top
6b. After clicking Format, a dialogue box will pop up, ensure that ‘Auto Format Flash’ and ‘Format whole flash without Bootloader’ are selected
6c. Click OK, Stop should now be red or green in color
6d. Connect the switched off phone (with battery inside) to the PC via USB cord
6e. A progress bar should load till you get a ‘Success’ message (green circle with OK)
6f. Disconnect the phone from PC

7. Untick the box in front of any item you do not wish to flash

8. To manually load an item that doesn’t automatically get ticked after loading the scatter file, tick the box in front of that item then double-click its Location and select the corresponding file in the window that pops up
9. Once the file(s) you wish to flash is (are) ticked, click Download (with an arrow above it)

10. Stop should now be prominent while other options should be grayed out
11. Connect the switched off phone (with battery inside) to the PC via USB cord
12. A progress bar should start running

13. Wait till you get a Success message (green circle with OK), do not interrupt before then

14. Disconnect the phone, remove the battery for 15 seconds (if removable), slot it back in then power up the phone

Instruction for flash LG G4 LGH818P

  1. Extract/Unzip the LG Mobile Driver 4.1.1 on your PC. You’ll get a bunch of files required to run the program.
  2. Download and install LG Flash Tool 2014 - KDZ Flash Software
  3. Double-click/Run LGFlashTool2014.exe file to Open LG Flash Tool.
    + If it doesn’t open, install Visual C++ Runtime Library from here and then try again.
  4. Boot your LG device into Download Mode:
    • Power off your LG device.
    • Press and hold Volume Up button.
    • Connect your device to PC with a USB cable while holding the Volume Up button.
    • You’ll boot into download mode with “Firmware Update” written on top of the screen.
  5. Now load the .kdz firmware file into LG Flash Tool window on your PC. Click the browse button at the end of the “Select KDZ file” line. Leave every other option as is on the LG Flash Tool window.
  6. Once you’ve selected H818P20h_00_1019.kdz firmware file, click “CSE Flash” button to proceed on flashing the H818P20h_00_1019.kdz firmware to your LG device.
    + FYI, the “Normal Flash” button doesn’t wipe data and the “CSE Flash” button wipes data. If you’re upgrading from a stock firmware, then “Normal Flash” might do.
  7. You’ll get a “Read Phone Information” window, it will be blank for the most part. Just hit the START button and proceed.
  8. You’ll be asked for administrator permissions for some LG program on your PC, accept it.
  9. Now you’ll see “Select Country & Language” window. Select “Different” from the country list and then “English” from the language list. And remember to NOT tick the Smartphone upgrade checkbox, it’s for Windows Mobile phones not your LG device running on Android.
  10. To finally begin firmware flashing process, hit the “OK” button.
  11. You’ll see a progress bar now. Just wait until it’s 100%, after which you might get an error “Connection to server failed”. This is okay. DON’T disconnect your phone at this point.
  12. Watch your phone closely, you’ll see some activity going on the screen with “COM” written in green text. Once that happens click OK to the “Connection to server failed” error.
  13. Now watch the firmware update progress bar on your phone. Once it’s complete, your phone will automatically reboot. And then you can disconnect your phone from PC and close the LG Flash Tool utility as well
